Volunteer Research Assistants
We are always accepting applications from students interested in volunteering to work as lab research assistants. Volunteer research assistants help with many aspects of our research projects from gathering background information to collecting data and compiling results. Volunteering is a great way to learn more about research in psychology, learn about the topics we study, and get hands-on experience. Benefits to volunteers include training in lab-related tasks, education about topics and issues that may not be covered in the classroom, and experience that may be helpful with applying to jobs or graduate programs. Volunteers who are conscientious and committed can expect a letter of reference for jobs or graduate programs.
To apply to be a volunteer research assistant, please complete an application form (PDF) and return it to the psychology department office (AH 345) and ask for it to be placed in Dr. Klest’s mailbox.
Honours Program
Advanced students who have earned high marks and are interested in pursuing graduate studies may wish to apply for the psychology honours program. The honours program offers students the opportunity to complete a research project and associated paper. Honours projects require dedication, quite a bit of hard work, and strong critical thinking and writing skills. If you are interested in completing an honors project in the Social Context, Health, and Trauma Lab, please review information about honors on the psychology department website, and complete an application listing Dr. Klest as a potential supervisor. Students who have previously volunteered in the lab will have an advantage in applying to the honours program.
