It has been over a year since our last blog post but we plan to have monthly updates for our followers.
We have been working hard on another paper using our cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM) database. It is a joint effort between Kat Mazenc (a former honours student in our lab, now a graduate student in clinical psychology under the supervision of Dr. Lynn Loutzenhiser), Seint Kokokyi (PhD student), and Dr. Klest. Our preliminary results show that physical symptoms are likely the principal predictor of depression and disability in this sample. This is important because sometimes people assume that depression and disability are caused by other factors – something inherent to the person – as opposed to something about a person’s situation (like severity of physical symptoms). We hope to share the final results on our website once this paper has been accepted for publication. Stay tuned.
